After a win at UFC 286 in London, middleweight contender Marvin Vettori attended a DAZN Boxing event in Milan.
During the event, a good friend of Vettori, Tony Effe, instigated a brawl in the crowd. The target of the scuffle was Italian rapper and boxer Ion Real Deal, real name Omar Nguale Ilunga. He holds a pro boxing record of 23-2-1, while also being an actor and rapper.
In the emerging video, we can see Vettori strike Ilunga with a few hammer fists to the back of the head dropping the boxer to the ground. It does not look as if he landed anything else during the brawl but the video is not of great quality. The video appears quite damaging considering Ilunga had his back turned and was moving away from Vettori when he struck out at him. However, any sort of punishment from the UFC is very unlikely for the highly-ranked middleweight.
Future of Marvin Vettori
After a contentious win in London over streaking Roman Dolidze, ‘the Italian Dream’ is probably looking at one more fight before he fights for the belt. Given that Marvin Vettori has lost comprehensively to Robert Whittaker he will be fighting someone ranked beneath him, Dricus Du Plessis, Sean Strickland and Jared Cannonier are all coming off wins. Alternatively, there is a Swedish bogeyman that we are yet to see in 2023, Khamzat Chimaev. Vettori likes his chances against the champion Alex Pereira but will need to wait. During that wait fighting another contender would keep him busy.
