Fan favourite Matt Frevola has announced his next fight set for UFC 295 in November at Madison Square Garden. UFC 295 just recently had the co-main event announced by Dana White. Alex Pereira will face the returning former Light Heavyweight champion Jiří Procházka in a huge fight added to the colossal card headlined by the Heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic.
Matt Frevola vs Benoit Saint-Denis
Frevola is a rising lightweight always in entertaining fights, he is in red-hot form with 3 consecutive first-round KO victories. His latest was a 4-minute war with Drew Dober which ended in violent fashion and the ‘Steamrolla’ getting his hand raised. Tonight on the Two to Tango Podcast, the American announced he has signed to fight surging Frenchman Benoit Saint-Denis. Frevola sits at number 14 in the ranking currently and probably could’ve gunned for someone ranked above him but he is searching for the entertainment. Numerous callouts for Paddy Pimblett seem to have fizzled out and now he faces one of the most exciting fighters in the division.
Saint-Denis is 4-1 since joining the UFC in October 2021. Currently, he is on a four-fight finish streak with stunning wins coming twice in his home nation of France. His debut at UFC 267 had everyone enthralled in a fight of the year contender against Elizeu Zaleski which he lost by decision. Since then the ex special forces member has been hunting for finishes and found them in all four fights since. An even split of 2 KOs and 2 submissions there is a clear threat from Saint-Denis in all areas.
This is the perfect fight to introduce the main card at MSG in violent style, a pair of determined gritty finishers with great fan bases behind them. It has the making for a truly breakout moment under a huge spotlight for the victor.
UFC 295 Card to date
This will be the 30th anniversary show for the UFC, so fans expect a stacked card. So far fans have the tantalising matchups of Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic and Alex Pereira vs Jiří Procházka to look forward to. The main event is a tussle between two men wrestling for ‘Greatest of All Time’ status in what potentially is a final fight for both and the co main is a dream matchup of striking mavericks both desperate to hold a UFC belt for the second time.
Prospects are also scattered through the card, Steve Erceg will make his second appearance after a brilliant debut beating a top 10 flyweight in David Dvořák. Undefeated Nurullo Alliev takes on Polish powerhouse Mateusz Rębecki who is on a 15-fight win streak. More fan favourites Mackenzie Dern and Diego Lopes will be present in MSG putting on a superb show.
