Matt Howarth tells the Golden Ticket Fight Promotions audience attending GTFP 23 to “expect an exciting fight for as long as it lasts”.
Golden Ticket returns to the K.K Steelmill in Wolverhampton on September 2nd. The card will feature professional and amateur mixed martial arts action from some of the best talent in the country.
Howarth, who starts on the show, is eager to continue building momentum and moving forward. He will face Riley Daniels in a contest both men believe is the toughest test of their early careers.
Ahead of the battle, we had the chance to talk with Matt Howarth. Hear what he had to say below.
Interview With Matt Howarth
Golden Ticket Fight Promotions 23 is vastly approaching. You’ve been extremely successful and active this year. What do you put your recent success down to?
I train very hard under the best coaches in the world. The gym has been very successful in competition recently because we are all putting in the work every day on the mats.
In your most recent outing, we watched you earn a unanimous decision over Callum Deakin. Despite winning, was there anything in that performance you weren’t impressed with that you took back to the gym and worked on?
Yeah, I still feel like I haven’t shown myself at 100% in the cage yet, so after every fight, there are things I can take back and improve. My last fight was my first decision, so it was good to have a full 9 minutes to watch back. Overall, I was happy with the performance but definitely looking to show big improvements this fight.
Matt Howarth on Fight With Riley Daniels
On Sept 2, you’ll meet Riley Daniels. When he announced the fight, he stated it was his toughest test to date. Do you feel the same? Is Riley your toughest test thus far?
Yeah, he has the best record of my opponents so far, so I think it will be a good test for me, and I can’t wait to get in there.
Looking at his resume, he’s a very dangerous opponent with a killer instinct to finish fights. What do you see when assessing his game and breaking down his skill set?
He has a good record and comes from a big gym. He has good BJJ and likes to look for submissions, but im confident in my MMA grappling, and I want to show that I can beat him in all areas of the fight.
When this fight was announced, many shared and commented about their excitement about the fight. In your mind, why are fans so excited for this one? What can they expect to see unfold when the cage door closes on you both?
Yeah, I saw some comments from fans, which are always nice to see. We both look for finishes so the fans can expect an exciting fight for as long as it lasts.
The Future
A win puts you in a good position for 2023. However, have you thought about the future? Are you looking to squeeze one more in before the year ends, or would you be satisfied with your work in 2023?
I want to get on as many cards as I can. GTFP have another card in October that I want to fight on, and I will put my name forward to get on as many cards as I can before the end of the year.
Finally, are there any last words for your opponent or any teammates/sponsors you’d like to thank?
Just thanks to my team and everyone supporting me.
