Matthew Dixon is ready to display a great account of himself in his second amateur contest at Almighty Fighting Championship 28.
The English-based promotion is set to make a triumphant return to the Barnsley Metrodome on the 26th of November with its most stacked event to date.
With just a few weeks out, I spoke with Matthew Dixon, who is on the hunt for his first win inside the Octagon. Check out the full interview below.
Interview With Matthew Dixon
Few weeks out from your second outing as an MMA fighter. How are you feeling ahead of your second walk to the Octagon?
I’m feeling great. I’m well prepared and excited to get back in and compete on a show like Almighty.
Having done it before now and knowing what to expect, are the nerves the same? Worse? How are you dealing with it?
For me, knowing what to expect has made it easier to deal with the nerves, and the more I train, the less nervous I feel leading up to the fight.
Matthew Dixon Reflects on Amateur Debut
Having time to reflect on your debut, what’s your honest assessment of yourself when watching the fight back?
Watching my debut back, my assessment of myself is that I made a few mistakes that led to me losing the fight, which have been addressed and worked on.
Almighty Fighting Championship is a great show with great talent in each event. How did your upcoming fight come about on 26th November? How excited are you to show your skillset in a show that will have a ton of eyes?
My upcoming fight came about because I believe my opponent’s fight fell apart. I was looking for a fight at the time, and my coach put me forward as a replacement, and I am very excited to show my skill set, especially on a show like Almighty, which looks like a really well-run show.
Expectations
For those who haven’t seen your debut and will be tuning in to watch you for the first time, paint the picture for them. What can they expect from you and the style that you offer?
I believe that they can expect me to be very technical and composed for someone who has had as limited cage experience as I have.
What will make you satisfied waking up on Sunday, 27th November, after Almighty FC 28 is in the books? Will it be a victory, will it be making a great account of yourself, or knocking down goals you have set for yourself?
The win will make me satisfied and showcasing my skill set.
Can you give us an official fight prediction? How do you envision the fight playing out?
I envision the fight playing out well for me, particularly in the grappling exchanges, as I’ve been doing lots of work on my jiujitsu. Lately, I am confident anywhere the fight takes place, and hopefully, the fight will be an entertaining fight to watch back.
