Matthew Macleod is gearing up for his fourth bout of 2023 when he makes the walk in Dundee at Caestus MMA 1.
Caestus MMA 1 takes place at the Piperdam Resort in Dundee, Scotland. This Saturday marks the promotion’s first show following an unfortunate cancellation months ago. Fans can expect professional and amateur action on a night that promises to deliver. Some notable Scottish names are featured on the card, such as Keir Harvie, Ross Cooper, and the pro-debut of Lorenzo Parente.
Prior to fight night, I had the pleasure of speaking with Matthew Macleod, who promised to finish his opponent, Barry Kennedy. Hear what he had to say below.
Matthew Macleod Promises to Finish Barry Kennedy at Caestus MMA 1
Fight week and 2023 have been your best yet. Talk to me about your year and how pleased you’ve been with your performances.
This year has been fantastic for me, finishing all three of my opponents, and I’ve enjoyed not taking much damage in the cage!
At the end of 2022, you dropped two fights back-to-back and now find yourself on a four-fight win streak. What changed in order for the performances and results to start falling in your favour?
After dropping two fights in a row at the end of last year, I really grew into my now pressure-heavy style, which has been hell for all my opponents since.
Saturday night, you meet Ireland’s Barry Kennedy. What’s your honest thoughts on this fight and what Barry offers?
Without giving anything away, I’m ready for a dangerous opponent on Saturday and prepared for what he has to offer against me in the cage.
Looking into his experience, is it fair to say this is your toughest test yet? Having looked into his game, is there anything you see in there that you’ve not seen before?
I think there are tougher stylistic matchups out there for me to be honest, I feel I am better everywhere and ready to walk him like a dog in that octagon.
Finally, you win on Saturday night. It makes it four straight for the year. Tell us, what’s next? What’s the plan for 2024?
After I finish Barry on Saturday, 2024 is going to be more levelling up in the gym and even more dominating in the cage.
