After UFC 300, the newly crowned BMF champion Max ‘Blessed’ Holloway has options moving forward.
As soon as Holloway connected and dropped Justin Gaethje, the opportunity to fight anyone opened up as Holloway’s stock rose at UFC 300.
Three options came to light between either Conor McGregor for the BMF championship, a featherweight title fight against Ilia Topuria, or Islam Makhachev was an option until it was announced that he would face Dustin Poirier at UFC 302.
“Everybody’s like, ‘Oh, he’s like whatever,’ but I don’t know the dude,” Max Holloway said at the post fight presser of Topuria’s reaction at UFC 300. “You don’t know if he’s socially awkward or something, so maybe that’s just what he is. Fair play to him, I don’t know how animated or whatever he is, so I ain’t going to take it.”
“This guy is a world champion, he’s a killer, but like I said all fight week, we’ve got questions. There’s a lot of questions about the guy and I want to figure that out.”
Even Topuria discussed that Holloway is potentially the next option after that amazing performance that crowned Holloway BMF champion.
Max Holloway vs. Conor McGregor – A Rematch Years in the Making
The rematch between Holloway vs. Conor McGregor has been discussed many times over the years, but now is the time to put the talk to serious thought.
“Conor McGregor considers himself a BMF. We got options,” Holloway said when entertaining the idea to fight Conor again.
The first matchup between Holloway and Conor saw Conor go up 1-0 against a young Holloway, winning by unanimous decision.
Both have grown within the UFC and both careers have taken different paths, making a second fight still exciting.
With Conor set to return to the Octagon for UFC 303 against Michael Chandler. Who knows if it puts a damper on a potential Holloway vs. McGregor 2.
