Former UFC Featherweight champion and current BMF champion Max “Blessed” Holloway reveals his controversial MMA Mount Rushmore
Max Holloway returns to action at UFC 308 against Ilia Topuria, after his sensational UFC 300 performance against Justin Gaethje. In the buildup to the fight, Holloway has revealed his shocking MMA Mount Rushmore.
The MMA Mount Rushmore list has been a hot topic of debate for fans of the sport. Mount Rushmore is a presidential memorial sculpture carved into Mount Rushmore, South Dakota, USA.
The carvings are a homage to previous US Presidents: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. Inspiring the MMA Mount Rushmore trend in which fans pick their four greatest MMA fighters of all time.
With only four choices and countless legends across various weight classes, it is no surprise that the debate is so controversial. Most recently adding to the controversy is UFC legend Max Holloway.
“Blessed” revealed his MMA Mount Rushmore in an interview with Stake, excluding one name from the list which is bound to raise some eyebrows.
Max Holloway Makes His Controversial MMA Mount Rushmore
Max Holloway’s MMA Mount Rushmore picks are all legends of the sport. But one name outstanding from the list is Jon Jones:
“I would say Demetrious is definitely up there, Anderson Silva is there too, GSP [St-Pierre] and then you have to give it to Forrest Griffin because he helped put the UFC on the map.
That TUF Finale on Spike TV was huge for the UFC, so those are my guys for sure. Those four guys are absolute animals.”
Max Holloway expanded on his Mount Rushmore stating:
“Some people might disagree with my Mount Rushmore. I’m looking at the way these fighters carried themselves inside and outside of the octagon.
How they were ambassadors of the sport and for the company as well.”
Given the scandalous nature of Jon Jones’s fighting career and personal life, Holloway’s Mount Rushmore is understandable. But many fans and president Dana White will strongly disagree with his exclusion of Jones.
UFC president Dana White has consistently praised Jon Jones as the greatest Mixed Martial Artist. Going as far as arguing with the media at a post-fight press conference over Jon’s G.O.A.T status.
Unsurprisingly, White places Jones at the top of his Mount Rushmore and certainly will have lots to say about Holloway’s list.
