There is now no doubt that Max Holloway still sits as the top UFC featherweight not named Alexander Volkanovski.
Max put on a brilliant performance in the main event of UFC Kansas City on Saturday night, he came out with a unanimous decision victory over Arnold Allen. In this performance, showing that he had not slowed down at all , and post-fight he knew who he wanted next.
With Max 0-3 against the current champion Volkanovski, ‘Blessed’ finds himself in a difficult position. After stopping the 10-fight win streak of Allen, Max has halted one of the division stand-out contenders. Max has called the name he wants to continue building momentum to another title shot, and he told reporters post-fight that he would love to fight the featherweight legend Chan Sun Jung”The Korean Zombie”.
“Korean Zombie, that’s the only guy of my time, with the older guys, that I didn’t get to fight,” he said.
Max Holloway Talks up a Potential Korean Zombie Fight
“I would love that fight. There’s a fight in my agent’s country, Australia. Australia is supposed to be happening sometime, we don’t know when, and if Korean Zombie wants it, he can get it. I would love to fight him. That’s one of the guys I grew up watching.”
“I’m kind of tripping on how we didn’t fight yet. How did we not fight? If that’s one of the guys, that’s one of the guys. I would love to share the Octagon with him. He’s one of the OGs that I didn’t get to fight, and we came up in the same era, and we didn’t fight each other.”
The title is back on the line in July with Alexander Volkanovski taking on Yair Rodriguez, so there’s potential that with a win for Rodriguez, Max could be back in line for a shot.
As cool as ever, Max commented “We’ll see what happens. Let the best man win. I get to be a fan in that fight in July and we’ll see what happens. Never say never. We’ll be alright.”
