Cage Warriors 139 will take place on June 10th as the promotion lands in San Diego to put on a show without their main event.
The main event was to be contested by Max Rohskopf (7-1) and Erick Sanchez (10-6). However, on Monday, Max Rohskopf announced on MMA Junkie Radio that the bout was not going to take place. The Nevada native shared that the bout was cancelled as a result of his opponent withdrawing. This leaves the promotion a fight short and Rohskopf without an opponent.
It was not the first time that the two fighters in question had each other in mind. They had booked a fight months earlier. That fight was pushed to June and has fallen through again. At the midpoint of the year, neither fighter has fought. A statistic they would likely both like to change. Speaking to MMA Junkie Radio, Rohskopf confirmed as much saying, “I’m cool fighting anyone. I’ve been that way since the beginning.”
The former UFC fighter, Rohskopf, has gone on a two-fight win-streak since being cut from the promotion, following a loss via retirement between rounds. He is, undoubtedly, eager to put together a string of performances and return to the trajectory he once plotted. Meanwhile, Erick Sanchez, a frequent competitor at Combate Global, would like to capture some consistency, having gone 3-4 in his last seven outings.
