On March 25th, 2023, the much-awaited Medusa 4 tournament finally went down, featuring a fierce battle among twenty of the finest female grapplers in the game. The stakes were high, as it marked the first time that the all-female promotion opted for a single tournament instead of two, making it more challenging for the fighters to emerge victorious.
Alex Enriquez Puts on a Show
With four straight matches in one night, the winning athlete would need to prove their mettle, and that’s precisely what Alex Enriquez did. It was not the first time that she had emerged triumphant in such a scenario, having previously overcome three tough opponents at Finishers 18 to win the grand prix tournament.
Enriquez set the pace right from the beginning, quickly submitting her first two opponents in just over eight minutes. However, the real challenge came in the form of the reigning Medusa EBI strawweight champion, Fatima Kline. Kline too, had submitted her first two opponents with relative ease, making for an intense showdown between two equally matched opponents. After pushing each other to their limits, the match ultimately went to EBI overtime, with Enriquez coming out on top.
Kiaya Jackson Took the Fight to Enriquez
On the other half of the bracket, Kiaya Jackson emerged as a force to be reckoned with, making it to her third consecutive tournament final on the Medusa mats. However, despite her impressive run, Jackson proved to be no match for Enriquez, who dominated the match and secured a submission win midway through the regulation time.
Enriquez’s victory at Medusa 4 cements her position as one of the most dominant female grapplers in the game, and fans are already eagerly anticipating her next move.
