Melissa Dixon will fight Gisele Moreira at Ares Fight Club 14 for the first women’s Bantamweight title on April 7th.
Dixon, 31 from Coventry, is 5-0 as a pro, with 3 finishes. One of the most exciting fighters out of the UK, Dixon is looking to piggy back off of her last AFC performance, where she beat the undefeated Darya Zhelezynakova in the first round. Dixon became the Golden Ticket bantamweight champion in only her third professional bout.
Her opponent, Gisele Moreira, is a 12-5 Brazilian who won her last fight via arm bar last April. Moreira is likely most known for her split decision win over Dayana Silva on the Contender Series back in 2018. She will attempt to spoil Dixon’s undefeated record and become the first women’s bantamweight champion this April.
Melissa Dixon as a Prospect
The Coventry-based fighter is one of the fastest rising prospects coming out of the UK regional scene. After winning the GTFP title in June, she cemented herself as Coventry’s first female MMA champion. Melissa Dixon is married to her coach James Dixon, who is also a professional fighter. Dixon is a brown belt in BJJ, and has ambitions to further women’s MMA and expand her career beyond the regional scene.
