Michael Bisping and Anthony Smith have identified a potential UFC debut opponent for boxing sensation Deontay Wilder. Following Wilder’s expressed interest in entering the UFC realm, the duo discussed the matchup on Bisping’s Believe You Me podcast, ultimately agreeing that Derrick Lewis would be the ideal adversary for the “Bronze Bomber.”
Bisping, examining the current heavyweight rankings, dismissed the notion of Wilder facing a current champion or anyone in the top 10:
“Let’s forget about the top 10 because that’s just nonsense, so from 10 to 15, it’s [Marcin] Tybura, Derrick Lewis, Oh God! Derek Lewis-Deontay Wilder. There it is!” exclaimed Bisping, with Smith promptly agreeing, “There it is. We just booked it.”
Emphasizing Lewis’s appeal to the fan base, Bisping asserted that a clash with “The Black Beast” would be a blockbuster main event:
“That’s got main event written all over it, that’s got Fight Night: Saudi Arabia written all over it, or Fight Night in wherever. You know what I mean; that is the one, Derrick Lewis-Deontay Wilder. I’ll be honest. Take my money right now.”

Bisping hinted at potential behind-the-scenes discussions, noting Wilder’s increasing presence at UFC events and the Apex. He suggested ongoing negotiations between Wilder and the UFC, stating:
“I’m sure this is definitely something that is in the works, and there’s been contractual negotiations and discussions.”
Acknowledging the seismic impact of Wilder’s potential move to the UFC, the duo speculated on more names entering the fray. While Nate Diaz has expressed willingness to face Wilder in an MMA bout, it’s worth noting that Wilder is currently scheduled for a boxing match against Joseph Parker despite the MMA links.
