Kamaru Usman will take on Khamzet Chimaev at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi this Saturday. He will be replacing the injured Paulo Costa after he pulled out of the fight due to injury. It will be an exciting fight as Usman moves up from welterweight to take on Chimaev. It can potentially change the landscape at 185 entirely, and according to Michael Bisping, it could rub some fighters the wrong way.
The UFC 294 Co-Main
The original matchup was between Chimaev and Costa. Yet due to elbow surgery, Costa had to withdraw from the contest. It was such a surprise that former welterweight champion Usman is stepping in to take on the rising star in Chimaev. The fight’s winner will get a title shot next, which could disrupt the middleweight’s plans to get a title shot. Dricus Du Plessis will lose out the most as he was the number one contender for the title.
Michael Bisping On The Division
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Bisping talks about the situation and how it may affect Du Plessis.
“That might raise an eyebrow or two because there is certainly a lot of worth contenders out there so if we take a look at the rankings here, we can see Sean Strickland the champion, just had that great win over Israel Adesanya, four rounds to one.
“There it is, at number two, Dricus Du Plessis. You have to think that he’s the one right now that’s p*ssed off to hear this news because after the way he beat Robert Whittaker and the win streak that Du Plessis was on and the way he finished most people. I understand that, he should be fighting for the belt.”
