UFC hall of famer Michael Bisping has weighed in on UFC 282’s new main event, and he seems to be favouring former champion Jan Blachowicz.
Last week, the MMA world found out that the final pay-per-view card of the year would undergo some unforeseen changes. Now-former champion Jiri Prochazka made the decision to vacate his belt after sustaining a bad shoulder injury. This left two top contenders in, Jan Blachowicz and Magomed Ankalaev, to accept a shot at gold.
Now that this is the reality, we have to start thinking about how this light heavyweight title bout goes down. Former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping had his say on his YouTube channel recently.
Michael Bisping Gives His Thoughts
“I feel like, Jan Blachowicz, if he can stop the takedown, the fight’s gonna be in his favour, but it’s gonna be hard.”
“Magomed, as I said, he’s a Dagestani, he’s a master of sport, in Sambo.”
“The takedowns, they’re gonna be absolutely key, now not to say Magomed can’t strike, but Blachowicz is very good on the feet.”
Blachowicz’s road back to the title was quite simple. He lost the belt to Glover Teixeira in October 2021, then came back to beat Aleksandar Rakic via TKO. Jan now finds himself in his 4th UFC title fight.
Ankalaev, however, holds a 9-fight winning streak in the UFC and now gets his shot at gold. His last three wins have come over contenders Volkan Oezdemir, Thiago Santos and Anthony Smith.
