What’s Next For Michael Chandler?
After waiting almost two years for his dream fight with Connor McGregor, it seems as if Michael Chandler will have to move on. The American surely has to move on in record to remain active in the Octagon. Who Could Chandler fight next?
An interesting fight for Chandler would be against Max Holloway. The Hawaiian fighter who is well renowned for his striking ability is fresh after knocking out Justin Gaethje in a epic brawl. Whilst Michael Chandler would have the upper hand in the grappling exchanges Holloway would still pose a threat with his tempo and elite cardio.
Former lightweight title contender Alex ‘the great’ Volkanovski has also thrown his name into the frame. Speaking to Submission Radio, the Australian said: “Nothing is booked at the moment, I’m coming over to Thailand to get that training in because I wanted to go over and there and start stepping things up.” Blessed with incredible cardio output and wrestling defence, Volkanovski has made the jump up to lightweight where he believes he could dominate the division.
Another interesting fight would be against Renato Moicano with the Brazilian on a three fight win streak. Moicano who has excellent stand-up ability is a formidable opponent for Michael Chandler as he looks set to move on from Connor McGregor. Moicano who knocked out Jalin Turner in his fight could provide a platform for Chandler as he looks to regain Octagon sharpness.
