Michael Chandler might have just spilled the beans on the timeline of a possible fight with former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor. According to the American, this long-awaited clash between the two might be happening. Sooner than it was previously speculated by fans and experts.
Ever since his infamous rubber match with Dustin Poirier, McGregor hasn’t been seen inside the octagon. The Irishman sustained a gruesome leg injury during the fight, something which forced ‘Notorious’ out of action for two years. Since then, fans have been speculating about his return, but it looks like Chandler has an answer.
Michael Chandler Lays Out a Possible Timeline for a Clash With Conor McGregor
In one of his recent interviews with ‘Talksport.com,’ Michael Chandler claimed that he is going to fight Conor McGregor in the first quarter of next year. “I believe this fight is happening in the first quarter of next year,” said Chandler. However, despite the confidence, ‘Iron’ didn’t give any particular date for their encounter.
Apart from this, the former NCAA wrestler also claimed that he would knock out his Irish rival in the first two rounds of the fight. “We knock Conor out in two [rounds],” added the former UFC title contender. Recently, Chandler has been quite active on social media, promoting his business venture, Hiatus Tequila. And this interview was one of the many the American has done recently.
Last seen as rival coaches during the latest season of The Ultimate Fighter, the two lightweights had been expected to fight for a while now. But despite the anticipations, the fight is yet to have an official nod. A delay which may be attributed to ‘Mystic Mac’s conflict with USADA. But now, with the testing agency out of the picture, the fans might finally get to witness the fight soon.
