Dustin Poirier and Michael Chandler are finally set to lock horns at UFC 281 on November 12th at Maddison Square Garden, New York.
The booking comes after months of back-and-forth shots between the two UFC stars. UFC Chief Business Officer Hunter Campbell told ESPN the bout was signed and sealed for the November showdown at MSG.
Poirier and Chandler got into a heated scuffle at UFC 276, which added to the fan’s urge to see the two locked in the UFC’s Octagon. Now, both men will be able to settle the beef in a three-round fight.
Poirier has been out of action since December when Charles Oliveira crushed his dreams of becoming undisputed UFC lightweight champion. The defeat marked Poirier’s second attempt at capturing the title, having fallen short to Khabib Nurmagomedov. Before that, the Louisiana born bagged himself two healthy pay-days with back-to-back stoppage victories over Conor McGregor.
Chandler, who has quickly become a fan favourite among the UFC loyal, has had nothing but electrifying fights since joining the organisation in 2021. Voiced “here for a good time, not a long time”, the former Bellator champion has certainly lived-up to that statement. The 36-year-old recently returned to the win column after a highlight-reel knockout over Tony Ferguson, breaking a two-fight skid.
Headlining the card is the intriguing trilogy bout between Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira with UFC middleweight gold on the line. Now with the addition of Dustin Poirier vs. Michael Chandler, the event makes for must-watch action.
