Michael Page is now the hottest free agent in MMA. Many promotions are most likely after his signature. Of course, when a big fighter hits the free agency market, there is always speculation that they will be heading to the UFC. There would be a lot of exciting matchups for the Englishman to have.
The Career of Michael Page To Date
Page has spent most of his career with Bellator, where he has competed for the top prizes on the promotion. He is known for his ability on the feet and has knocked out many opponents throughout his career. Page has a professional record of 21-2 with 13 knockouts. The fact is, he doesn’t just knock people out. Page does it in style. The evidence for this is that he has many first-round knockouts. He has proven that he can compete with anyone if the fight stays on the feet. His most recent win was against Goiti Yamauchi, where he finished him with a leg kick in the first round. Page would make an excellent addition to the Dana White’s roster for many reasons. Also it would be intriguing to see if he comes to the UFC.
Following Michael Chandler’s Path
If Page were to come to the UFC, it would be very similar to Michael Chandler, who also made the switch from Bellator. They were both legends inside a Bellator cage, and MVP would like to follow in Chandler’s footsteps. Speaking with Freestylebender, Page explained how he would go about fighting in the UFC.
“We’ve seen it with Michael Chandler; he went in there, fought a top 10 Dan Hooker, great first win for him that just sprung him into title contention.”
It is important to note that Chandler held championship gold, which meant he went into the UFC in a strong position.
Fights To Make In The UFC
When thinking about who he could fight, there are some exciting options. Stephen Thompson could be the perfect person to introduce Paige to the UFC, as they are both elite kickboxers. Furthermore, there’s no threat of being taken down from either side. Gilbert Burns would be an interesting choice as he has shown a willingness to fight anybody, and whoever was victorious would be put right into title contention. Finally, you have the likes of Kevin Holland and Neil Mangy, who are cornerstones of the division and put on great fights.
Page would be a great addition to the roster, and he has many good matchups to choose from. It would be awesome to see another top British talent in the UFC.
