Former Cage Warriors fighter and fan-favourite Michal Figlak has signed for the UFC. Not waiting long to see the Polish fighter compete, his first task will be against France’s own Fares Ziam. With UFC Paris going down on September 3rd. This is another great match-up with two European talents. Taking place at Lightweight this is a banger.
This announcement has come somewhat left field. Michal Figlak most recently completed at Cage Warriors 141 just last month. He was seemingly in position for a shot at CW gold but he has opted to join the UFC.
Mike Figlak
For those who are unfamiliar with the Lightweight, you are in for a treat. 8-0 as a professional he competed six times in Cage Warriors and defeated some of their top 155-pounders. His latest win was against former champion Agy Sardari.
An all-action fighter he brings the fight every time he competes. He has four wins via KO/TKO and four decisions. Extremely versatile he can compete wherever the fight takes him. Having tools in all facets of the sport.
Born in Poland he has been fighting out of England for some time now. With a big UK and European fan base behind him, Michal Figlak is one to watch.
Fares Ziam
Fighting in his home nation. Fares Ziam will be looking to put on a show in front of his people. The French fighter hasn’t had the easiest of UFC runs, but has gone 2-2 in the promotion. 12-4 overall, he is still only 25 and has plenty of room for growth.
Nine pro finishes, Ziam boasts four KO/TKO’s and five submissions to his name. An exciting fighter who is always in entertaining fights.
Losing his last outing he’ll be looking to put that behind him. Fighting in France he’ll be hoping for an impressive performance that will showcase his improvements.
The Fight
Two young European talents who will no doubt deliver on a European showcase card. This matchmaking is great. Each man has a path to victory, and the winner could be on the road to bigger and better things.
A great signing for the UFC in Michal Figlak, he’s young and exciting and will look to follow in fellow Polish Lightweight Mateusz Gamrot’s footsteps.
