Sunderland fighter and teammate of now fellow UFC fighters Tom Aspinall and Paul Craig, Mick Parkin, just scored the biggest win of his professional career on Dana White’s Contender Series.
Mick Parkin, now 6-0, earned his first submission win when he tapped out Brazillian bruiser Eduardo Neves via rear naked choke. Both men came out of the galley swinging, looking to separate each other from consciousness.
First, Parkin landed big. Then Neves landed big. After some back and forth, intense action, Parkin took to the grappling side of his game. He tripped Neves, which made the Brazillian look like he was treading in deep waters. Neves did ultimately work his way back to his feet using the cage, but Mick’s well-rounded game saw him sink in a double leg, and Neves would be back on his back. Noticing his opponent looking gassed and overwhelmed, Parkin would sink in a rear naked choke and tap out Neves at 1:57 of the very first round.
