Mike Tyson Jake Paul Fight: Tyson Addresses Concerns About Age and Health
Nearly two decades after his last professional fight, Mike Tyson Jake Paul is a headline-worthy matchup that has fans buzzing. Tyson, who just celebrated his 58th birthday, will face the much younger Jake Paul, 27, in the ring this Friday. This matchup has sparked concerns among fans worried about Tyson’s health and age.
The highly anticipated Mike Tyson Jake Paul fight is set for Friday, November 15, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. This match was initially postponed due to a medical emergency Tyson experienced on a flight, which turned out to be a 2.5-inch bleeding ulcer. Given Tyson’s recent health history and the substantial age gap between him and Paul, some fans are questioning if this fight might be risky for the legendary boxer.
Tyson’s Take on Fan Concerns Ahead of Mike Tyson Jake Paul Showdown
In a recent interview with boxing reporter Manouk Akopyan, Tyson addressed fans’ worries, explaining that he’s been rigorously preparing for the Mike Tyson Jake Paul fight.
“Time changes [a person], I was a different person back then, and it’s time for me to come back,” Tyson said.
He discussed the transformation he’s undergone since his last professional fight in 2005, adding, “I was a different person [when I last fought professionally]… I was using narcotics and alcohol back then, and I’m not that person anymore. I see a better picture of myself, I see light, I see the world from a different perspective now.”
When asked about fans’ concerns over his age and health, Tyson offered reassurance.
“Thank you very much for being concerned, but I am fighting… I’m going to be okay.”
Tyson is confident in his fitness and shared details about his intense training regimen.
“I feel great; Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday I boxed for eight rounds. Listen, I’m sparring young guys and they’re hitting me real hard; it wasn’t a picnic when I first started training, these young guys gave me a shellacking at first.”
Prepares Intensively as the Fight Looms
After months of rigorous preparation, Tyson believes he’s more than ready to take on Jake Paul.
“I’m doing my sh**,” he added. “I was born to do this, I was built for this stuff, I was born to sell out a stadium – this is what I’ve wanted to do my whole entire life.”
Despite his confidence, Tyson is still viewed as an underdog in the Mike Tyson Jake Paul fight. His last victory was in 2003, where he delivered a swift 49-second knockout of Clifford Etienne. Two years later, Tyson faced Irish Olympian Kevin McBride, who ultimately beat him in what was thought to be Tyson’s final match.
Kevin McBride, the last man to defeat Mike Tyson, recently reflected on his experience and the upcoming Jake Paul bout. McBride shared that many doubted his chances against Tyson, given the legend’s career achievements.
“A lot of people said that I have no chance to beat Mike Tyson, with his career and what he’s achieved, they didn’t think it was possible,” McBride remarked, adding, “I had a different plan in mind.”
McBride revealed he even trained with a hypnotist to maintain mental focus during the fight.
“I trained very hard for eight weeks and even worked with a hypnotist so that every time Tyson would hit me, I’d be smiling… So I was smiling a lot that night,” he explained.
