Mike Tyson has recently shed light on a serious health issue that forced him to reschedule his much-anticipated fight with Jake Paul. Originally set for July 20, the match was postponed to November 15 following a medical emergency Tyson faced in May.
The issue began during a cross-country flight when Tyson suffered an ulcer flare-up, a complication that quickly turned critical. “I went to the bathroom and I threw up blood,” Tyson shared on Countdown: Paul vs. Tyson. “The next thing I know I’m on the floor. I was defecating tar.”

The problem was traced to a 2.5-inch bleeding ulcer, which led to a drastic weight loss for Tyson. Over the course of his treatment, he reportedly dropped 26 pounds. Reflecting on his initial fears, Tyson said, “I asked the doctor, ‘Am I going to die?’ And she didn’t say no. She said we have options, though. That’s when I got nervous.”
Thankfully, Tyson has since recovered, with no further health issues reported. The boxing legend has even received recognition for his remarkable physical transformation over the past few months, a testament to his resilience and commitment to getting back in the ring.
This fight marks Tyson’s first professional boxing match in nearly 20 years. His last official bout was in June 2005 against Kevin McBride, which ended in a sixth-round TKO loss. In 2020, Tyson returned for an eight-round exhibition match with Roy Jones Jr., which ended in a draw. Now, with a career record of 50 wins, 6 losses, and 44 knockouts, Tyson is ready to step back under the spotlight.
Tyson’s return is one of the most anticipated events in recent boxing history, and fans eagerly await his clash with Jake Paul on November 15.
