Interview With Milan Bodhi Silva Mørck
A few weeks out from fight night, Milan, and I believe you’ll be top of the bill vs. Will Jones. How are you feeling physically and mentally as we close in on fight night?
I feel better than ever, both physically and mentally. I have finally found my right weight class, and I look forward to showcasing my skills.
I say mentally, as lately, it’s not been going as you’d hoped your professional career. How much has the recent run of bad luck taken on your mental game?
My two recent losses haven’t affected me at all. Both losses were against really tough opponents that no one else really wanted to fight. I am really competitive, and fighting is not a career for me. I do it because I love to fight and step into the cage and just fight.
You had a squeaky-clean sweep during your amateur career. With that in mind, has it been a shock to the system at the pro-ranks, and why do you believe you’ve been unable to secure that first win to really kickstart things?
My amateur career was really good, and I thought that I could still fight in welterweight or super lightweight. But to be honest, I’m too small for these weight classes. See me compared to my last opponents. They were huge and really skilled as well.
Milan Bodhi Silva Mørck Talks GTFP 23
GTFP 23, you face Will Jones and leap straight back into the deep end with a very tough fight and opponent. What’s the mindset of consistently taking killer after killer? Some guys would typically look for a slightly easier matchup in order to get that first victory and allow themselves to build momentum and release some tension from their shoulders.
I like to have tough opponents and test myself against good fighters. I’d rather have a loss against a really tough opponent than a win against a can. I don’t like to hand-pick my opponents. I like the matchings at GTFP. They are really fair.
I believe you will make GTFP history and compete alongside your son. Can you just highlight what that means to you and what it would mean to you to both leave Wolverhampton with your hand raised?
Unfortunately, my son will not be fighting anymore. We had to pull him from the fight due to health issues. He was hospitalized for a few days last week. But he will be ready to fight the same opponent at a later event. And hopefully, we will have the opportunity to fight at the same event another time.
Looking At Will Jones’ Game
When you look at Will Jones’ game and game plan to defeat him, what’s your assessment? What does he do well, and perhaps not so well?
First of all, I think Will is a really cool guy. We were supposed to fight last year in December, but unfortunately, I got injured during my fight camp. But I talked to him, and he was really cool. I know that he is a BJJ brown belt, so his grappling skills are really good. So are mine. So maybe it’s gonna be a high-level grappling fight 🙂 But if he wants to stand and bang, I welcome that, too.
Finally, what can the fans attending on Sept 2 expect to see from you and this fight overall? Sell it to them?
The fans at GTFP can expect that I will put on a show and make the fight crazy and spectacular. Hopefully, it’s going to be the fight of the night.
