UFC light heavyweight Modestas Bukauskas has admitted that his UFC Vegas 75 victory over Zac Pauga didn’t go as he originally planned.
The Brit scored a unanimous decision victory over Pauga despite it being a competitive back-and-forth contest.
Bukauskas is now on a two-fight win streak in his second with the UFC. However, in an exclusive interview with Combat Sports UK, he revealed that the bout on Saturday night didn’t exactly go to plan.
He said: “I feel like I made a lot of errors. There was a lot of things [that] I did good but there is a lot of things that I didn’t do so well.
“In terms of the boxing, certain things that we were working worked really well but then there was other things I needed to adapt [to] a little more on the fly, which I didn’t do, and I didn’t use a lot of my kicks.
“There are certain aspects that I wasn’t really too happy with but at the same time, I was happy that I was able to get a lot of counter shots off and land the hands, which was actually a big part of the training.
“The things that we did good, we did good, and the things that we didn’t do good, we didn’t do good. Overall, it was not the best performance but it was enough to get the win which is all that matters.”
Modestas Bukauskas on His Next Fight Following UFC Vegas 75
The 29-year-old has been very active since returning from a serious leg injury, having four fights in the space of eight months.
He would now like to fight in Europe towards the end of the year, the UFC currently have events booked in London and Paris for July and September respectively – but these may come too soon for ‘The Baltic Gladiator’s’ schedule.
He said. “I would like to fight on a European card, I’m guessing, by the way things are gonna go, it’ll probably be at the end of the year which is not a bad thing at all.
“I just wanna fight in front of a crowd, fight in Europe and fight somewhere at the end of the year. Just keep building on my skill set, keep getting better and keep racking up those wins.”
