Scouse UFC star Molly McCann will have her own documentary, premiering first on BT Sport on Tuesday, March 15th.
The documentary will go through Molly’s MMA career that she began as an amateur in 2013. Along with other topics such as being on the UFC chopping block and also her sexuality.
Molly ‘Meatball’ McCann (11-4) is a fan favourite on the UK MMA scene. Being from Liverpool, she always has the city behind her whenever she enters the octagon. Winning the Cage Warriors Flyweight Championship in 2018 was her ticket to the UFC. This is where her career began with a loss via rear-naked-choke against Gillian Robertson. The loss didn’t stop Meatball; however, in 2019, she was back with three fights and three wins in 8 months. Molly even later went on to say that the loss to Robertson was ‘the best thing that has happened to her’. Two unfortunate decision losses in 2020 and 2021 had Molly on a two-fight skid. Her victory over Ji Yeon Kim last September was believed to be the start of her redemption.
Molly trains at Next Generation MMA in Liverpool along with Paddy Pimblett, a UFC personality new on the scene. The pair were there to support each other at UFC Vegas 18, a card they both fought on and grabbed important wins. Molly even getting a Performance of the Night bonus.
BT Sport began to promote the documentary earlier this week. Giving us a snippet and a release date in this tweet:
