Meatball Molly McCann is now a ranked UFC flyweight. The global superstar has a number next to her name, and she deserves it. On an unbelievable run, the surging Scouser has put together an incredible three-fight winning streak. One that has seen her achieve back-to-back highlight reel finishes.
Fresh off her UFC London TKO victory over Hannah Goldy. The UFC ranking committee have seen it fit to put Molly in at #15.
A ranking is a big deal in the MMA and UFC world. Opening up opportunities and showing the world she’s one of the best, could be the start of a title push.
Molly’s UFC Rise
UFC rankings, at times, seem like gold dust to some. Illusive and hard to attain, some fighters go their whole UFC careers without one, usually due to hard work and an impressive winning streak or resume. Molly McCann has the victories to back it up.
Entering the UFC, she faced UFC mainstay and always tough Gillian Robertson. Losing via second-round submission, Molly has gone on record as saying this was a low point in her life.
The losing wouldn’t last long, though, as she bounced back with a trio of wins taking out Priscila Cachoeira, Ariane Lipski and Diana Belbiţă all via unanimous decision.
Now on a roll, she hit a bump in the road. Losing her next two via unanimous decision to Talia Santos and Lara Procópio, respectively. The former, who just challenged for the Flyweight championship in a razor-close fight.
Once again, Molly put her losses in the rearview mirror and went straight back to work. This leads us to now and her current winning run. Three fights, three performance bonuses. Her most recent run has seen her put away Ji Yeon Kim, Luana Carolina and most recently, Hannah Goldy.
This leaves her overall UFC record at 6-3.
What’s Next?
Now with a ranking next to her name. Molly has some pull when it comes to opponents. With those behind her calling her out to take her spot and those ahead taking note of Meatball.
The women’s Flyweight rankings are wide open right now. With Valentina Shevchenko ruling the roost, the dominant champion is looking for new challenges, and Molly might be one soon.
With the #15 next to her name, next up for Molly would likely be somebody who sits in front of her. As #14, #13, and #12 look like this. Tracy Cortez, Erin Blanchfield and Cynthia Calvillo. Any of these would make sense to push Molly up the rankings. As well as being good fights for Meatball.
Now #15, what do you think is next for Molly McCann?
