The UK fans’ favourite firecracker, “Meatball” Molly McCann, finally achieved financial freedom, she told givemesport.com in an interview.
The Next Generation fighter takes on Luana Carolina on the highly anticipated UFC London card taking place on March 19th.
McCann fared well in her last outing. She won a fight of the night bonus as well as the decision victory over Ji Yeon Kim.
The Liverpool native told GiveMeSport :
“I’ve probably fought some of the biggest fights of my life for money that some male pro boxers wouldn’t even wipe their a*** with to be honest with you. They wouldn’t even get out of bed for it.”
“The hardest difficulty I’ve faced would be financial security,”
“That was always the hardest one. I have finally got to that point in my career where I’m taken care of really well by the promotion I fight for. That isn’t the worry anymore. The worry is not getting hit in the face now.”
Molly McCann : ‘No One Holds The Door For The Ladies in MMA’
“To any young females getting involved with MMA, it’s not going always to be an easy road. It’s going to be a long road, but it’s a journey worth having.”
“The people that you meet and the experiences that you go through, you can’t buy them, like you have to train and build those relationships and they’re absolutely amazing.”
“What’s worth having doesn’t come easy and growth doesn’t come from comfort zones. Just getting into the gym is the hardest part but once you’re there you’ll love every second of it.”
“Meatball” has an upcoming documentary, released 15th of March on BT Sport in the UK, and she couldn’t be happier about it.
“I’m really excited to see four years of my life rolled into 60 minutes, to be honest”.
“There’ll be moments I think the camera didn’t catch and there’ll be moments I think it did catch and it didn’t and it’ll be a nice little reminder I was built for this.”
“And I think when I feel down it’ll give me drops of inspiration to keep drawing from and take into the fight. I’m actually really looking forward to watching it while having to cut weight as I weigh in the next day.”
Liverpool’s favourite daughter will have plenty of fanfare come March 19th in the O2 Arena but may have even more come the end of the BT Sport documentary.
‘Meatball Molly’, airs on BT Sport 2 on Tuesday, March 15 at 10:30 pm.
