Molly McCann has revealed that she’s predicted fellow Brit Tom Aspinall to be the Heavyweight Champion, but not in the way we think.
Tom Aspinall is coming off a brilliant first-round knockout of Marcin Tybura at UFC London. The victory was Tom’s comeback from a serious knee injury, which was almost exactly a year in the making.
All the talk since that win has been about Tom Aspinall’s path to the UFC Heavyweight champion and his desire to fight Jon Jones for the belt.
Immediately after the fight, Aspinall laid out his path to the title, by beating the winner of Ciyrl Gane v Serghei Spivach in Paris this September and then challenging Jones, providing he gets past Stipe Miocic in November.
Molly McCann Breaks Down Tom Aspinalls Title Pathway
Speaking recently to Mail Sport McCann revealed what she said to Tom:
“I think on fight island when he won, I said to him he’s going to win the belt”
Molly continued ‘I don’t think he’ll fight Jon – I think Jon will be done in November. But I feel like he’ll fight Tuivasa and then fight the winner of Jones and Stipe”
“But it’s both of their retirement fights in New York so who knows where it will be? But I genuinely believe he will be the next World Champion”
Molly McCann on Her Recent Loss
McCann also commented on Tom’s words of encouragement and her most recent loss to Julija Stoliarenko at UFC London:
“‘He text me saying “no-one knows the highs and the lows of this game, Mol, love you, hope you’re okay”.
Meatball concluded with: “I hope you’ve been revelling in all the success this week, Tom. I hope you’re having a nice time with your family and friends and can’t wait to see you at the top.”
