UFC up-and-comer Muhammad Mokaev has expressed his interest in facing American Tyson Nam in a future matchup. The young flyweight takes on Charles Johnson at UFC London on July 16th but will hope to be ready to take on Nam in August or September.
Mokaev’s callout of Nam comes after Tyson’s scheduled opponent, Tagir Ulanbekov, pulled out of their UFC Vegas 57 clash. After the cancellation became public, Mokaev was quick to his keyboard to tell Nam to ‘stay ready’ so that the two could fight later on this summer.
Muhammad Mokaev Calls Out Tyson Nam
This is not the first time the young flyweight has called for multiple fights in a short period of time, as just last week, he was calling for a fight with Alex Perez, a bout which would come just 7 days before his fight in London.
Muhammad has not received a reply from Tyson yet, however, there’s time for that to come. Nam will most likely be looking to get his next fight booked as soon as possible after this disappointing cancellation. He has not yet said anything public about his fight cancellation at all.
An immaculate 22-0 amateur record set the bar high for the 21-year-old as he turned pro, but so far he has only looked like replicating that with 7 pro-MMA wins. In his last fight, Muhammad took on Cody Durden, where he claimed the first-round finish as his switch knee-turned-guillotine was enough to make Durden tap.
The British wrestling champion Mokaev is currently in Florida, training with American Top Team who is preparing him for his next fight in just over a month’s time.
Nam, however, started his pro career in 2006. Since then, he has built up a 21-12-1 record (2-3 UFC) and will look to bounce back from a split decision loss against Matt Schnell in his next fight.
