Former UFC Flyweight contender Muhammad “Punisher” Mokaev has finally received some good news after his surprise axing from the UFC
Dagestan Born, Wigan-raised Mokaev has had plenty of drama in recent weeks since his UFC 304 victory over Manel Kape. After the fight, UFC president Dana White announced that the Flyweight would not be granted a contract extension.
Jokingly stating “The PFL is going to get a great undefeated guy” in the UFC 304 post-fight press conference. Since then Mokaev has been a free agent.
Muhammad even made an apology video, in which he offered to fight for free in the hope of being resigned. But it seems the UFC were uninterested in his request.
To add some light to a dark time for “The Punisher”, last night Mokaev’s return to competition was confirmed.
Muhammad Mokaev Officially Re-Signs After Shock UFC Dismissal
After weeks of speculation with names like; Brave CF, Bellator, PFL and One championship circling, Mokaev has chosen his preferred organisation. During the Brave CF 86 broadcast last night, the promotion confirmed that Muhammad Mokaev has re-signed with the company.
The 24-year-old undefeated Flyweight debuted for Brave CF back in 2020 after an astounding 23-0-0 amateur record. His unscathed 6-0-0 [1NC] record at Brave is what earned him his shot at the UFC.
In a statement from Brave CF president Mohammad Shahid, he welcomed Mokaev back with open arms:
“We would like to welcome back Muhammad Mokaev, an undefeated superstar, who is an amateur legend, with two IMMAF world titles, and someone who has proven to be the best Flyweight in the world, with no losses to his amateur or professional record. This is a very exciting time for Brave CF.”
Shahid went on to shed light on the mistreatment of Mokaev at the hands of the UFC.
He said:
“There has been an unjust persecution of his character and attempts to use defamation to feed personal vendettas… [It] is evidently clear that there are no clear reasons as to why the best athlete in the world cannot compete.
This is not what the sport is all about. For BRAVE CF to have him back is fantastic… and he now can become a voice for all these challenges. Not only that, his return solidifies our ethos to have the best fight the best irrespective of any other variable, be it of creed, sex, colour or marketability.”
Now re-signed to competition will “The Punisher” be able up maintain his undefeated record in his second stint at Brave CF?
