Muhammad Mokaev has been in the news lately calling out any and everyone, yet that may come to an end. The Dagestani born, United Kingdom representing fighter officially set the date for his second outing in the UFC.
After handily defeating Cody Durden in his UFC debut, the twenty-year-old star now switches gears. Into the UFC comes Charles Johnson, a man who is anything but your average newcomer. Charles Johnson is the latest LFA Flyweight Champion to come to the UFC, so you know just how good he is.
Muhammad Mokaev (6-0, 1-0 UFC)
Mokaev enters the octagon for the second time with a pro record of 6-0. In his pro career, he’s shown just how talented he is, yet the amateur scene is where he cut his chops. Muhammad went 23-0 on the amateur circuit, a feat as incredible as it sounds. Consistently competing in the IMMAFs, Mokaev never had it easy. If you want to build up a high-level fighter in the UK, then it’s hard to go wrong with the IMMAF approach.
As a pro, Muhammad Mokaev has proven to be merciless. If he sees an opening on the feet or the ground, then it’s safe to call it an early night. In just his first fight with the UFC, Muhammad not only landed a flying knee that dropped his opponent, but he also finished the fight with a choke. With as big as his grappling threat is, his striking is coming together at a frightening pace. Muhammad can finish the fight wherever it goes.
Muhammad has never tasted defeat in his fight career, so what does that mean? For many fighters, a defeat leads to the biggest learning experience of their lives, but Mokaev is different. Mokaev has seen struggle, he knows what real loss is. For many, they need to face defeat to encounter humility, and further themselves. Yet, for Muhammad Mokaev, his humble beginnings have kept him level regardless of the heights he may reach.
Charles Johnson (11-2, 0-0 UFC)
Charles Johnson enters off a fight of the year candidate against Carlos Mota Tizil at LFA 122. Finishing his opponent in the fifth and final round, Charles did what he does best in setting the pace and out grinding his opponent. “Inner G” is nothing short of a true fighter, and he is definitely the toughest test of Mokaev’s young career.
Charles’ last MMA loss came in 2019, to a fighter that you may know named Brandon Royval. Since Charles has entered a different stratosphere. On a four-fight win streak that captured the LFA Flyweight Gold, Inner G is at his all-time best. To beat Mokaev, he will have to find yet another gear.
Although Charles has faced top prospects and veterans alike, facing someone like Mokaev in front of what will likely be an adopted hometown crowd is something different entirely. Charles always rises to the occasion, so it’s no surprise to see that he’s taken this fight. We can’t wait to see how it goes.
Mokaev vs Johnson Likely Takes Place in London
With all of the rumours pointing towards the UFC being back in London come July, it’s safe to say that Muhammad and Charles will cross paths in the UK. Muhammad’s goal is to become the youngest Champion of all time. If he can defeat an LFA world champion in his second UFC fight, then he’s definitely on the right track.
