PFL 3 had another quick finish which gave the crowd something to cheer for once again. This is due to Murad Ramazanov being able to submit Laureano Staropoli in the first round. The PFL crowd has already been able to see Thad Jean and Don Madge get their first-round finish and they witnessed another one in this fight as well.
Murad Ramazanov Defeats Staropoli
Staropoli was already coming into this fight on -1 points in the standings due to missing weight yesterday. Staropoli wanted to finish the fight right from the start as he threw a flying knee that missed. Due to this Murad Ramazanov tried to take Staropoli to the ground as a result. However, both fighters settled for clinching against the cage. Staropoli then tried to throw Murad Ramazanov and take the fight to the ground however, Murad Ramazanov was able to capitalise and take back control.
While having control of the back Ramazanov was able to land some solid punches to the head and transitioned over to full mount. From the mount position, Ramazanov was looking for an arm-triangle choke against Staropoli. However, Staropoli was able to move over to half-guard with two minutes remaining. Ramazanov then got back into the mount position and offloaded punches. Staropoli tried to defend these by turning away but this was only rewarded with more shots. Ramazanov was then able to get the back of Staropoli and was able to get the rear naked choke. Staropoli was at an odd angle however, tried to fight the choke but had to eventually tap.
Not Enough for Top Spot
This was a very dominant performance and Murad Ramazanov was able to show off his wrestling skills. Murad Ramazanov won’t be at the top of the standings even though he was able to get 6 points. This is due to Don Madge also getting a first-round finish, however, over 3 minutes quicker. Under the PFL if the points are level then it is whoever has the quicker finish which will determine the rankings.
