Nate Diaz clashes with huge star Khamzat Chimeav in the last fight of his UFC career on Saturday.
Nate Diaz UFC Career
The scheduled welterweight bout between UFC veteran and UFC rising star Khamzat Chimeav is set to take place this Saturday. Less than a week before the fight, Diaz announced he was launching his own fight promotion, “Real fight inc”.
After winning season five of the ultimate fighter, Diaz quickly became a fan favourite within the MMA community. His win over Conor McGregor in 2016 took Diaz’s stardom to a whole new level. He enters his clash against Chimeav as the ultimate underdog, but in the eyes of the fans, he is very much the favourite.
The Business Behind the Fight Game
With his brother Nick Diaz creating a new fight promotion, “War MMA” in 2013, Nate is no stranger to the business end of the fight game. With War MMA not making it past the opening show, Nate looks to see his new promotion more successful.
In a recent press release, Diaz stated that he would be applying for his promoter’s license. With “Real fight inc” looking to showcase multiple combat sports, including boxing, MMA, and BJJ. Diaz made clear that this will “have no bearing on his status as a fighter, where he will continue to be very active”.
Nate took to social media to announce this new venture, captioning his promotion video “Real ninjas. Real fighters. Real shit. Real fight inc”. It is no secret that there have been tensions between Diaz and the UFC for many months. In his farewell bout, Diaz looks to halt the momentum of welterweight prospect Khamzat Chimeav and shock the world.
We don’t know what the future holds for “Real fight inc”, but the time ahead is exciting. Will Diaz be successful as he ventures into the business side of fighting?
