Former UFC fighter Nate Diaz is facing a possible battery charge following an alleged assault on a nightclub bouncer.
The alleged assault took place last summer with Diaz supposedly slapping the bouncer with his right palm.
An arrest warrant was later circulated with Nate Diaz facing a misdemeanour charge.
Nate Diaz set for court case
With Nate Diaz facing quite a serious charge it could be possible that the former UFC fighter could spend time in prison. Diaz has always been a controversial character during his time with the UFC. There are many instances where Diaz has clashed with fellow fighters most famously with Connor McGregor at a UFC press conference.
Furthermore, court documents obtained from TMZ showed Diaz in an alleged scuffle with the bouncer. The incident took place after midnight on the 25th of August outside Omnia at Caesars Palace. It is thought that Diaz initially pushed the bouncer before the bouncer pushed Diaz back. Following this Diaz reacted and struck the bouncer before further security guards de-escalated the situation. The police did turn up but at that time Diaz had left the scene
Diaz clashes with Islam Makhachev
It is not the first time Nate Diaz has been involved in controversy. Last week, the former UFC fighter was captured on camera hurling objects towards Islam Makhachev and his team. Diaz was at the event with his long-time friend Kron Gracie, fighting at UFC 310. While the incident left the UFC enraged, fans were surprised with the Stockton fighter’s actions.
Diaz has long been a villain for the organisation with his antics away from the Octagon adding to his reputation. Fans have always been supportive of the fighter. Before his fight with Jorge Masvidal Diaz lit up a joint and smoked it much to the delight of his fans. This story just adds to Nate Diaz’s incredible career. Following the end of his UFC contract, Diaz has dabbled into the world of boxing facing both Jake Paul and Jorge Masvidal.
