Nate Diaz bows out in style and submits Tony Ferguson in round 4 with a guillotine. Two absolute legends of the sport showed up and put it all in the line in a back-and-forth contest that saw both display trademark moments.
UFC 279 had its ups and downs. Reliable as ever in the cage the two veterans showed up to fight.
It was everything you’d expect it to be. Both men had their success, with boxing being the main focus in the cage. As the rounds went on Tony began to cause Diaz issues with heavy leg kicks.
Round one and two arguably went to the Stockton Slapper who landed in volume and managed to open a cut on Tony. Round three was the most successful for Ferguson who had chopped the leg well. This caused Diaz big issues.
However, it did not matter. As Diaz pushed the action throwing punch after punch, Tony tried to alleviate the pressure with a takedown. This found him in the BJJ black belts guillotine that would see the end of the fight.
Two legends who put on one hell of a fight, it was all you could ask for as a fan of both of either.
Would you like Nate Diaz to stick around in the UFC?
