Nate Diaz vs. Conor McGregor 3 is the fight that should be next for both men, at least according to Diaz’s Coach Cesar Gracie.
Nate Diaz vs. Conor McGregor 3 Next?
Following a win over Jorge Masvidal in boxing, Nate Diaz’s future is in question. With many fans hoping for a return to the UFC, Cesar Gracie weighed in on what he feels should be next when talking to Submission Radio.
“I think a trilogy probably makes a lot of sense for both of those guys,” Gracie said of Diaz vs. McGregor 3. “You know Chandler and McGregor is a good fight, too. But, I mean, just the history of Nate and McGregor, I think it’d be the bigger fan fight if they had a trilogy. And in my opinion, that’s what I’m thinking.
With each man showing support to the other recently, there is mutual respect between them. Nate Diaz defended McGregor’s pullout against Michael Chandler, saying that he wouldn’t have fought if he wasn’t 100% either. Days later, McGregor posted a bet slip showing that he won over $1 million on Diaz the night he beat Masvidal.
Gracie gave his opinion on how the fight would go and how Diaz has looked,
“Nate doesn’t look like he’s really lost any steps lately. With McGregor, he’s been out of it for awhile and he hasn’t had a win in a long time. I would have to favor Nate on that one. His toughness, and he’s been in the game. And you know, it’s not good when guys come out and stay out that long from the game. It’s hard for them. And I think whether McGregor fights Chandler or someone else, I think he’s going to have a lot of trouble getting back to his peak performance.”
Nate Diaz’s recent activity compared to McGregor’s would be a big narrative heading into a potential trilogy. Gracie could be correct about nearly everything he’s said, but that’ll likely stay unknown for now.
“Millions and Millions of Dollars”
When talking about the money needed to entice Diaz to return to MMA, it would take a considerable amount says Coach Gracie,
“Millions and millions of dollars, whatever they’re paying their highest people,” Gracie said. “Nate is such an icon of the sport. He’s fought and deserves the things he’s gotten. He had to get everything the hard way. He brings star power with him. The event last night was sold out. It was. And it was on Nate Diaz over there. No one would have gone to that show without Nate Diaz,”

Gracie refers to Diaz’s recent boxing match with Jorge Masvidal, which took place in a sold-out Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Diaz’s place in the sport has already been solidified as a pioneer for the modern age and legend of the sport. Underpaying him would not be a possibility for the UFC, who would need to break out the checkbooks if they want to see Nate Diaz fight under their promotion again.
