Nathan Haywood is determined to put on a career-best performance at Rise and Conquer 13.
R&C 13 will take place on Saturday, October 7th, at the Rainton Arena in Houghton le Spring. Fans attending can expect well-matched action throughout with TFT’s fighters across the board. One of them in action is professional fighter Nathan Haywood, who meets Iain Postlewaite.
In what Haywood labels his “toughest test to date”, we had the opportunity to speak with him. Hear what he had to say below.
Interview With Nathan Haywood
Nathan, or can we call you Mr. Rise and Conquer? You’re all set for your fourth pro fight on Rise and Conquer. How would you sum up your time competing as a pro thus far?
So far, it’s been great. I’ve had a bit of a late start with some bad luck, but since my first pro fight, I feel I’m improving every fight and just enjoying the process. I forget less than I would have liked, but I’m hoping to get a few more in this year.
In your first three fights, you’ve been excellent and held a 100% finish rate. Any promoters dream if you keep this up. At this stage of your career, is that something you’re thinking about? A few more statements win, and your name and resume get put on Mick Maynord and Sean Shelby’s desk. It’ll be hard to ignore.
Yeah, it’s a goal of mine to always finish the fight. I want a massive highlight reel eventually to look back on.
Nathan Haywood on DWCS
Saying that assuming reaching the UFC is your dream and the end goal. I’m not looking past October 7th, but is that what you have in mind? Few more solid wins and potentially a crack on DWCS? Where do you see your path into the big leagues?
Hopefully, I would love to get an opportunity like that. I think it will definitely take a few more fights, but as long as I keep improving, I don’t see why I won’t be ready very soon.
Seeing on your Instagram that you’ve been working hard. Can those attending and the Rise and Conquer faithful expect to see any new tools added to your arsenal on fight night?
I don’t really think I’ve had the opportunity to show a lot of my game yet, so yes, they can definitely expect something new.
Fight With Iain Postlewaite
October 7th, you’ll face off with Iain Postlewaite. Truthfully, what are your thoughts on him as a fellow competitor and your overall thoughts on the fight itself?
He’s good, solid everywhere, and scrambles nicely; he’s just smaller, older and slower, and I don’t think his style matches up well with mine. I imagine it’s going to be a frustrating fight for him.
You mentioned this will be your best performance to date. How can you keep bettering your performances each time, given your dispatching of people quickly?
He is my most experienced opponent to date, so when I beat him by stoppage, it will have to be considered my best performance yet.
