As he prepares to undergo two back-to-back fights in quick succession, Nathaniel Wood is mentally in a good place leading as he heads into UFC Paris.
The 29-year-old managed to find himself back in the win column at UFC London, dominating Charles Rosa, after a two-year absence from competition. Wood is now eager to carry that momentum into tonight’s UFC Paris bout.
Wood will take part in a historic showing in France against Charles Jourdain, which marks the UFC’s first trip to the country. Fans have touted this featherweight barnburner as a strong candidate for Fight of the Night.
Nathaniel Wood on Being Active
Wood spoke exclusively with Daily Star Sport ahead of fight night and feels the recent activity has given him some light again in life.
“It feels good to be active, I’ve got my purpose back in life let’s say.
“Having been injured… when you’re a fighter and you can’t fight it sucks man. It’s a weird feeling so I’m back doing what I love to do and I’m enjoying it.”
Wood had to face some mental battles after Vince Morales was forced with withdrawal due to injury back in March, but did express is gratitude to UFC president Dana White for paying him his full purse.
“I still went but it was breaking my heart. When I was seeing the fighters come out it was a real kick in the balls. But it was an amazing event and even more motivation for me to get back in there.”
