Nayoa Inoue and his team have confirmed a new opponent for his January 24th bout after Sam Goodman pulls out.
Goodman has now had to cancel the bout twice due to a cut above the left eye reopening.
Sam Goodman and the No Limit Boxing team have put out a statement on the Inoue cancellation.
“No Limit Boxing regrets to announce that Sam Goodman has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled bout against Naoya Inoue on January 24 due to a recurrence of his eye injury.
We wish Sam a full and speedy recovery and will provide updates on the event in due course.”
The original bout was scheduled for Christmas Eve as Nayoa Inoue gave Goodman the month to recover from the cut.
Nayoa Inoue has now confirmed he will still be fighting on January 24th but with a new opponent.
Inoue’s opponent will be Ye Joon Kim on two weeks notice.
Ye Joon Kim is 21-2-2 and will be hoping his chance at a world title, even on short notice, could become fruitful.
Nayoa Inoue Confident Ahead Of January 24th-
Nayoa Inoue before the cancellation of the bout had been in peak condition and ready for Goodman.
“I’m in the best shape now. The postponement by a month has helped me get my feel and focus right.”
Nayoa Inoue had previously said his intention was to target the cut on Goodman’s eye.
“It’s a fight, so it’s natural to do that. That’s a big weak point for him and can be my key to victory”
Nayoa Inoue has apologised to his fans via X for the second cancellation.
As already announced by Chairman Ohashi, due to Goodman’s injury, his opponent on January 24th has been changed to Kim Ye-Jung of South Korea.
To be honest, I was surprised, but I am grateful to Chairman Ohashi for providing me with an opponent even in this situation.
With less than two weeks until the match, we’ve managed to switch gears. We are very sorry to our fans, but we ask for your continued support on January 24th. We will show you our best performance on the day.”
Nayoa Inoue will now prepare for Ye Joon Kim on the 24th of January.
