Noah Honour plans to “hunt for that early finish” at Battle Arena 77 just like he did in his amateur debut at the back end of 2022.
Honour bagged a first-round finish over Todd Griffiths at Budo Fighting Championship 53. He assures his second walk to the cage will be the same on Saturday night.
The fights will go down in Coventry, England, and ahead of a stacked-card, we had a chance to catch-up up with Noah Honour. Hear what he has to say below.
Interview With Noah Honour
Noah, you’re all set to make the walk for the second time in your amateur career. Last year you made your debut on Budo FC. How was that feeling of getting your hand raised for the first time?
A debut win is the dream of any fighter it’s where you feel the stakes are at the highest, so the victory was important to me.
A first-round finish is a great way to kickstart your amateur career and let people know what you’re about. Having had time to digest the performance, was there anything you weren’t happy with despite getting the first-round stoppage?
The first round stoppage was special but I didn’t get to showcase much or use the cardio I’ve worked hard on.
Noah Honour Talks MMA Debut
After such a win, we would have expected to see you out there quicker. What’s the reasoning for this being your first fight of the year, and would you have been happy to keep the momentum going relatively quickly?
I would have liked to fight sooner. I did have a fight lined up, but a last minute muscle injury had me sidelined. Now that I’m fully recovered though, and have almost spent this whole year in and out of fight camps and, therefore I feel seasoned despite only fighting once.
Saturday night you’ll square off with Lee Curry. What do you know about your opponent, and how do you feel you match-up with one another?
I believe this will be my opponents debut and therefore he will have to fight those additional nerves but I don’t underestimate what he can bring to the table being from a good gym.
No Weaknesses
You said you want to show no weaknesses in your MMA game this Saturday. What measures have you taken in camp to ensure you don’t do that? Is there an area you’ve been fine tuning more than others?
I come from a kickboxing background. I have a black belt in karate under OSTMA a well know club but since making the transition to mma have made it my priority to master a well rounded game with the help from Olympic level wrestling coaches and a variety of no gi bjj specialist.
Finally, give us your official fight prediction and what fans can expect from you in Coventry?
Finally my prediction for the fight is that I am going to hunt for that early finish again on the feet or the ground but have had my fitness pushed to the limits to ensure I am able to outlast my opponent across three rounds if necessary.
