Just days ago we broke the news that Chris Duncan would debut at UFC 286 against Mike Figlak. Well, as unpredictable as the fight game can be, just days later, Duncan has taken to social media to say the fight has fallen through, and Mike is out of the bout. One man who wants his shot in the UFC and is willing to take on ”The Problem” is Oban Elliott.
“The Welsh Gangster” had one hell of a year in 2022. Walking to the cage three times, he walked away three times with his arm raised in victory. A couple of Welterweight bouts, the latter where he picked up the unanimous decision win over former Cage Warriors Middleweight champion Matthew Bonnar. Before closing the year with a Middleweight victory.
A Cage Warriors regular who fans of the promotion are incredibly familiar with. He started his career as a Lightweight. Despite fighting 30 pounds over the 155 lb limit most recently. Oban still wants the Lightweight fight in London vs Duncan.
Taking to Twitter, where he has been vocal about his desire to compete at UFC 286, he had this to say. It appears Chris Duncan is also keen on the idea replying with this tweet.
Oban Elliott
Oban Elliott has competed for his whole career in the yellow gloves of Cage Warriors. Putting together a record of 7-2, he’s proved to be one of the company’s most dependable talents. Always waiting and willing to take on any challenge, Elliott is guaranteed to bring the fight.
A grappling specialist, he continues to evolve as an MMA fighter adding new weapons to his arsenal each time he competes. Of his seven wins, he has finished five of them. Boasting two KO/TKO’s and three submissions. Once the fight’s down to the mat with Oban it is usually not long before he’s looking for the kill.
A fight with Chris Duncan would prove interesting. Each possesses a different style, Chris the stand-up, KO artist and Oban the smothering grappler. Many would boil this fight down to the usual striker Vs grappler bout. However, the continued improvements of both men in their overall games could make this one a back-and-forth all-out war
