OKTAGON 49 takes place Saturday night with a record MMA crowd in Cologne Germany. Amongst British interest is KO King Corey Fry.
Exciting English prospect Corey Fry (5-1-0) will make his OKTAGON debut on Saturday night. The British KO hunter is taking on local favourite Deniz Ilbay (5-0-0). The event is taking place at the 18,500-capacity indoor LANXESS arena, it’ll be a record for an MMA event in Germany.
Fry is coming off stunning KOs against Martin McDonough & Adam Gregory in UKFC earlier this year and December of last year. Fry has a 100% finish rate in the fights he’s won, all of which came in the first round. Ilbay is on a 5 fight-win streak with wins coming as recently as September he currently has 2 ground-and-pound and pound finishes, 2 submissions and 1 decision win.
We spoke to Corey Fry ahead of this performance and he had this to say:
“All I see is 20,000 people to upset, I’m going in there as the underdog. For me, I’ve got something to lose, but really I haven’t got anything to lose. I’m going in there to fight their top boy, I’m there to cause an upset!”
