Oleksandr Usyk has recently exclaimed in a Sky Sports interview that he has only two fights left in his illustrious career.
The Ukrainian Heavyweight champion of the world has mentioned the prospect of potentially retiring from the sport of boxing.
Usyk has beaten Tyson Fury in back to back decision wins in his last two fights and now has pondered leaving the sport.
After winning undisputed in both Heavyweight and Cruiserweight, it is hard to see what more Usyk can do in boxing.
Despite this Usyk has assured fans he’s not quite done yet.
“I think two years, one and a half [left in boxing]. 1 feel great myself. I feel I have two fights to prepare [for], not more. Just two.”
The opposition’s for Usyk are endless as he prepares for a return to action.
Usyk Names Potential Future Opponents-
Oleksandr has been very vocal in potentially taking on the winner of Joseph Parker and Daniel Dubois.
“I WILL FIGHT WHO WILL WIN, JOSEPH PARKER, DANIEL DUBOIS, NO PROBLEM”
The WBA, WBC, WBO and Ring Magazine champion has also been open to potentially dropping to Cruiserweight to take on Jai Opetaia.
Oleksandr Usyk has claimed boxing as a addiction even comparing it to a drug.
“Boxing if you do this for a long time: 10, 15, 20, 25 years then boxing is like a drug.If you don’t go to training one day then you feel dead. For me, at least. I train every day. I don’t do boxing every day. Sometimes I do crossfit, and running training.”
The Ukrainian has even told TalkSport that he doesn’t even train boxing outside if camps.
“I only do boxing when I am in my camp.”
Many boxers have struggled to come to terms with retirement but Usyk seems a lot more relaxed than others.
Usyk did have his say on previous opponent Tyson Fury’s recent retirement.
“I DON’T THINK ABOUT IT BUT I THINK IT IS NOT TRUE… ONCE TYSON HAS RELAXED AND RESTED, MAYBE TYSON WILL BE BACK.”
It is highly unlikely that the two will find a way back into the ring against each other but if anyone wants the chance at Usyk, they better be quick.
