Two of the world’s top strikers will face off in a kickboxing super fight as ONE Championship debuts at Saitama Super Arena.
ONE Championship Announces Takeru vs. Rodtang Superfight at Saitama Super Arena for ONE 172
ONE Fight Night 26 at Limpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, marked the end of the non-Friday Fights segment of ONE Championship’s 2024 schedule. Fans are now looking forward to the January 10th ONE Fight Night 27 event, featuring two major title fights.
Additionally, multiple title bouts have been confirmed for ONE 170 and ONE 171: Qatar. ONE Championship also announced that it will make it’s debut at Saitama Super Arena in Japan on March 23rd for ONE 172: Takeru vs Rodtang.
Originally scheduled for ONE 165 last January, the highly anticipated clash between the two striking stars was delayed when Rodtang Jitmuangnon had to withdraw due to injury. Superlek then stepped in to defend his ONE Flyweight Kickboxing title against Takeru Segawa, winning via unanimous decision.
Takeru rebounded with a win over Thant Zin, while Rodtang secured two wins. However, he lost his title for missing weight.
Takeru vs. Rodtang Headline Epic Card with Moraes vs. Wakamatsu Flyweight Title Rematch
The kickboxing super fight between Takeru and Rodtang will headline ONE 172, with a thrilling five-round main event. In the co-main event, Adriano Moraes and Yuya Wakamatsu will fight for the vacant men’s flyweight MMA title. Moraes, who recently defeated Danny Kingad by submission at ONE 169. seeks a fourth flyweight title defence after Demetrious “Might Mouse” Johnson’s retirement. Wakamatsu is currently on a three-fight win streak after his retirement. Wakamatsu, on a three-fight win streak, aims to reclaim the title he lost to Moraes in 2022.
ONE 172: Takeru against Rodtang takes place on March 23rd at Saitama Super Arena in Japan. With these exciting matchups confirmed, fans can expect more fight announcements soon.
