ONE Championship has announced the promotion will be holding a Muay Thai Grand Prix at Flyweight for the first time in their history.
The Fighters Competing:
Rodtang Jitmuangon. 24 years old. A former Omnoi Staiudm 130lbs Champion, Max Muay Thai 125lb Champion and current ONE flyweight Champion. The Thai fighter is a fan-favourite heading into the star-studded grand Prix.
Jacob Smith. UK’s number 1 ranked flyweight. On his debut, Smith was signed by ONE Championship and given a title shot against Rodtang. This was one of several bouts which got cancelled. The fights fell through due to travel restrictions imposed during the Covid pandemic. Unfortunately, Smith is yet to make his ONE debut.
Jonathan Haggerty. 25 years old. The British fighter is a former ONE flyweight Champion. He held the ONE Championship flyweight belt before losing it to Rodtang. Haggerty lost a second time to Rodtang in their rematch. He will want to make a point should he come to face the Thai fighter.
Walter Gonclaves. 23 years old. The Brazilian fighter is a former 2018 WPMF World 135lb Champion, 2018 MX Muay Xtreme 60kg Champion and 2017 P-1 Chang tournament Champion. He fought against ONE flyweight Champion Rodtang on his debut in October 2019 and lost via split decision.
Superlek Kiatmookao. 26 years old. The Thai fighter is a former Lumpinee stadium champion at two weight classes and a WBC MuayThai Super Featherweight world champion. In 2012 he was voted the Sports Authority of Thailand Muay Thai fighter of the year.
Taiki Naito. 26 years old. The Japanese fighter is a former Shoot boxing Super Bantamweight champion. Boasting a win over fellow competitor Savvas Michael. He also went the distance with Haggerty, losing via unanimous decision.
Savvas Michael. 23 years old. The Cypriot fighter is the current WBC MuayThai lightweight champion. He recently took the Japanese veteran, Yshitaka Naito, to a decision and won.
