ONE Championship president Chatri Sityodtong has thrown shade at the current Bellator roster, comparing them to his fighters.
The UFC has led the way in terms of mixed martial arts promotions. ONE Championship and Bellator have been competing against one another for the second spot for several years. Both promotions have some top talent and big names.
ONE has dominated the Asian mixed martial arts market for some time on every level. Bellator has somewhat grown in Asia due to its ongoing cross-promotion events with Rizin.
Chatri has made significant strides for his company. Recently the promotion has partnered up with Prime Video, and while discussing a recent event that was shown on Prime, Chatri commented on Bellator’s roster and the promotion as a whole when asked by the interviewer.
Chatri Sityodtong on Bellator MMA
“I mean, look at the viewership numbers, look at the social media metrics, look at organic video views, anything. Bellator is like 5% that of ONE, okay? Even competition wise, our champions would steamroll Bellator guys. The only co-promotion I’m interested in is UFC, champion vs champion.”
ONE Championship has zero interest in taking part in a crossover event. However, Chatri did reveal the only acceptance would be with the UFC. As we know, UFC president Dana White has shut down the idea of working with any other organisation.
