Paddy Pimblett has hit back at people who questioned his unanimous decision victory over Jared Gordon at UFC 282.
Despite moments of doubt, Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett left the T-Mobile Arena victorious, as his co-main event bout with Jared Gordon was scored 29-28 for the scouser across the board. However, dozens of media members scored the fight 29-28 the other way, or even 30-27, making for an interesting topic of discussion.
Immediately after the fight, Paddy spoke with Joe Rogan and was quick to tell fans how close he thought the fight was. “No, it wasn’t. That wasn’t close. He just controlled me in the third.” Shortly after this, he spoke with Aaron Bronsteter backstage:
Paddy Pimblett Not Happy With Claims He Lost at UFC 282
“I’m pretty pissed off to be honest, lad, Joe Rogan come in and said that was a close fight. I was like ‘what are you on about?’
“I won, all that matters when you look back in the history books is that I’ve got a green marker, W next to my name. It wasn’t a split decision, it was a unanimous decision.”
“I’m pretty pissed off to be honest, lad that people thought I lost, it’s annoying me. It’s annoying me a lot.”
It seems that fans and fighters alike weren’t happy with the decision. Stars such as Ben Askren and Nate Diaz openly gave the fight to Gordon on social media.
Paddy also confirmed that he injured his ankle in the fight, after throwing a kick early in round one. Pimblett wants the injury to be looked at, but is still unsure of the severity.
