Since diving head-first into the UFC lightweight division, Paddy Pimblett has shot to stardom.
The Liverpudlian has his sights set on the last pay-per-view card of the year on Dec.10 in Las Vegas for UFC 283. After his memorizing performances in London, Dana White stated the next logical move would be to send Pimblett to Vegas on a big card.
Paddy Pimblett to Feature on UFC 282
Pimblett made an appearance behind the booth last night, calling the fights at Cage Warriors 144 when he made the announcement:
“UFC 282, I’m planning on fighting on that — Dec. 10,” Pimblett said. “So I’m just waiting for an opponent, lad. I’m waiting for someone to step up and sign on the dotted line. Everyone talks about ‘The Baddy,’ everyone talks about fighting me. But then the contracts in front of them, you know, they’re not as confident.”
The scouser has been a Cage Warriors faithful coming through the ranks, spending eight years with the company. During his time there, he attained their featherweight championship and also fought for the lightweight championship.
Since joining the company in 2021, Pimblett’s stock sky-rocketed to the moon with his performances inside the Octagon. For someone who was criticized for his stand-up, Pimblett stopped Luigi Vendramini with strikes in round-one on his debut. The 27-year-old then followed it up with back-to-back rear-naked choke victories over Rodrigo Vargas and Jordan Leavitt.
Fellow fighters on the UFC roster have called out Pimblett, but he know’s exactly where he stands in the company as opposed to everyone else. Don’t expect him to be calling for fights:
“I’m the star of the show,” Pimblett said. “I don’t need to talk about anybody.”
