Paddy Pimblett has assured fans what you see is what you get from the Liverpudlian.
Since bursting onto the scene in 2021, Pimblett has quickly cemented himself as one of the main attractions among the UFC roster. In just his fourth fight with the company, Pimblett is set to make his pay-per-view debut and co-headline UFC 282 this Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas.
Ahead of the fight, Pimblett ensured fans his personality wasn’t put on like numerous fighters do to gain attention.
Paddy Pimblett Assures Fans His Personality Is Legit Ahead of UFC 282
“I’d hate myself if I tried,” Pimblett told ESPN. “I hate fake people. I don’t like it. As I’ve said before, I don’t like Colby Covington because of the act he puts on. I don’t like people who put acts on. It’s just not me. It’s annoying.”
Covington is one of the sport’s biggest starts. Although not for admirable reasons. The former two-time welterweight title challenger has crossed multiple boundaries in his act to engage in mental warfare and get under the skin of his opposition. The 34-year-old has been criticised for his outlandish behaviour and his ability to play a character while in front of the MMA media.
Pimblett has three fights, three wins, and three stoppages under his belt thus far in his UFC career. The 27-year-old has voiced he’s in no rush to compete against the elite of the division. However, does know the magnitude that his name now holds.
Pimblett to Stardom
“I’ve always known I was gonna be a superstar,” Pimblett said. For me, it’s nothing new. It’s just standard procedure.
“I don’t know [what makes someone a superstar],” he added. “I’m just a main man, lad. I’m the one that everyone wants the interviews with. I’m the one that everyone wants the pictures with and to come and see and that’s just a fact. I am the main man now, lad. People who want to dispute it can, but they know they’re wrong.”
Paddy, “The Baddy” Pimblett, will collide with Jared Gordon in the UFC 282 co-main event, which will almost guarantee must-watch action.
