UFC commentator Joe Rogan believes that Paddy Pimblett should have lost his fight at UFC 282 against Jared Gordon.
Speaking on episode 1920 of The Joe Rogan Experience to Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, Rogan stated:
“He shouldn’t have won… I thought Jared won. I thought Jared Gordon won that fight. It was a good fight. It certainly wasn’t a blowout. It wasn’t one of those fights where there was no f***ing way. It was a close fight.”
Rogan was making the comments in response to Dave Portnoy bringing up the fact that Joe Rogan rolled his eyes inside the Octagon when the judge’s decision was read out. His reaction was quickly picked up by people watching the broadcast and circulated on social media:
Rogan isn’t alone in his opinion, with many fans and fighters believing that Gordon did enough to earn the win, including, of course, Jared Gordon, who chimed in on Rogan’s comments:
Paddy Pimblett and Barstool Sports
Dave Portnoy enjoys a close relationship with Pimblett and has been present at Paddy’s last three fights. He signed him to a “seven-figure” deal to promote and create content for Barstool Sports following his UFC debut win over Luigi Vendramini, which quickly jettisoned Paddy to stardom in the US market. Barstool Sports also signed Paddy’s close friend and training partner, Molly McCann, following her viral KO win over Luana Carolina.
The controversial win marked Pimblett’s fourth consecutive win inside the Octagon but was, without doubt, his toughest test. Gordon, on the other hand, dropped to 19-6 but has arguably never been more popular. Jared Gordon is calling for a rematch against Pimblett at UFC 286 in London. However, neither fighter has made any announcement regarding their next opponents.
